Race report by Michael Jones
The 2015 Summit Slam was last weekend, kicking off the first trophy race of the year for us carpet racers here in the midwest. This single day event, bringing in close to 80 entries, was full of tough competition and fast racers. Even though the weather outside flirted with below zero temps, the fine facility in Fort Wayne, Indiana was plenty warm inside, with their new carpet and subfloor providing for excellent grip.

The only class I ran was Mod touring. I wanted to be sure to give myself enough time to try multiple different setups, as well as offer setup support and help to the large number of XRAY cars that were in attendance. After grabbing TQ in the first round, and that time holding up in the second round, an unfortunate tap that lead to a minor breakage in the third and final round of qualifying relegated me back to the 3rd slot on the grid for the main. At the start of the main, I was able to jump up to second within the first few laps, and put pressure on the leader. From the 2 minute mark to the 5:30 mark, we traded the lead 4 times between the two of us, never being much more than a few feet apart. At the end of the race, I came up just a bit short, coming home 2nd, missing the top spot of the podium by 4 tenths of a second.

The aluminum chassis T4 with power and batteries by EA provided for a car that was capable of winning, just coming up a bit short.

As always, thanks to RCAmerica/XRAY for the great support and products that allow me to be competitive and challenge for the win at any event I enter.
